La Romana, Dominican Republic

InterVarsity is starting a new ministry to the Dominican Republic starting this summer. We currently have nine students and two staff on the team, made up of nine different campuses from throughout New England! We are focused on ministering to Haitian migrant workers who moved to the DR to make a living and house their families. While there we will be sharing the Gospel through VBS, helping aid medical teams, and helping form educational curriculum and sports camps.

La Romana Ministry Programs
La Romana ministry seeks to provide sustainable solutions to the needs surfacing in the Haitian bateys. They strive to empower these communities to overcome the below challenges and grow into fullness in Christ.
  • Education - support local schools by refurbishing or building facilities and providing meals for students.
  • Health care - provide medical supplies to targeted communities.
  • Clean Water - assist the target communities to develop sustainable, safe water sources and sanitation systems and practices to break the disease and contamination cycle.
  • Evangelism - through tools like VBS, they seek to evangelize the bateys with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • Hospital - Whenever possible, selected patients are taken to the local hospital for surgery paid for by La Romana ministry. Such surgeries include broken bones, heart surgery and tumor removal.
